When you think
Amsterdam, think Aerocar!
Aeroceanetwork is very pleased in Amsterdam with the membership of
Aerocar, a quality company that is very well known in the Dutch market.
Aerocar Ltd, as mid-sized air cargo carrier, provides a high service
level with the personal attention that you don’t often get when working
with a large freight forwarding conglomerate. In the past several years
Aerocar has seen solid, steady growth and are proud of their
achievements.
What is the key to their success?
“At Aerocar we use high-quality carriers which broaden the possibilities
for us to offer a personalized logistics service’” says Mischa de Boer,
Aerocar’s General Manager, “and that special service is coordinated with
the wishes and requirements of our valued customers and agents” Aerocar
maintains their high service level by investing in their staff and very
sophisticated computer systems. They are also continually on the lookout
for new transport possibilities for their customers in order to be able
treat each consignment efficiently, reliably, safely and mutually
profitable. “Aerocar is very aware that ongoing operational improvements
are essential for excellence, says de Boer, “and this excellence is what
keeps our customers loyal.
Aerocar’s home shares its Amsterdam home with Schiphol International
Airport (AMS). Schiphol International Airport is Europe’s fourth biggest
airport and is an international and regional cargo hub, well connected
by road and rail throughout the continental Europe. Aerocar’s rank as a
top 20 IATA agent positions them well to take advantage of the growth in
cargo to and from Schiphol, which is substantial as of late. Earlier
this year airport officials announced that Schiphol’s cargo throughput
jumped by 10.5%, reflecting substantial growth in volumes since 2004.
Cargo volume to the Far East, the airport’s largest cargo market, grew
considerably, up 15.7%, primarily as a result of cargo imported from
this region. Cargo throughput to Africa also saw robust growth, up
30.3%. “Our ambition is to position Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as 'Best
Air Cargo Gateway’ of Europe,” says Ben Radstaak, managing director of
Air Cargo Netherlands, the air cargo industry association for the
Netherlands.
Schiphol is the home and main hub of KLM, the Netherlands’ national flag
carrier, with one of the world’s largest fleets of aircraft with one of
the most important air cargo networks. Schiphol is also the home of
Martinair and Transavia. But besides having an excellent location for
air traffic, Amsterdam is near two of the world’s busiest ports,
Rotterdam and Antwerp, which makes it a very good location for all
strategic logistics business.
What is going on with Aerocar these days?
As of October 1st Aerocar is the sales agent of Jetpak, a well known
courier service of SAS Airlines in Germany and the Benelux so they are
quite busy implementing this business. “We keep on growing very fast,”
says Mischa de Boer.
On top of that, their mother company, Exel, was just bought by Deutsche
Post (under the DHL banner) in a massive USD 6.7 billion deal, so there
is lots of IT reorganization going on at Aerocar. Aerocar is a solid
member of Aeroceanetwork and works through their own agents worldwide.
“Even though we are a part of a larger group, we are completely
independent,” says Jerry Hachey, of Aerocar’s Sales and Development
department, “that means that we have the best of both worlds. Aerocar
has the service level of a smaller company and the financial backing of
a larger group.”
Aerocar has worked very well with members of Aeroceanetwork for the past
two years so that is why we say, “When you think of Amsterdam, think of
Aerocar!”
