TFC Offers Freight Calculator for Sea-Air Shipments

The Freight Company (TFC), an Aeroceanetwork member, has developed its own freight calculator specifically for European shipping agents who need sea-air quotes from Thai and Vietnamese ports immediately.

TFC's sea-air calculator requires forwarding agents to fill in the weight and dimensions of the cargo, after which it gives a correct rate immediately. The ocean portion of the transfer is generally a weight or measure (w/m) freight calculation, the transshipment is mostly on a pure weight basis and the freight by air is calculated on actual or volume weight. TFC automatically makes these calculations instantly for the agent.

"Our calculations cover all of the major online airports as well as most of the offline airports," said Torbjoern Larisch, chief representative of TFC in Vietnam, "it covers from Norway to Italy and from Portugal to Russia."

"The benefits of sea-air can be quite substantial," said Michael Reichelt, operations manager of TFC in Bangkok, "With sea-air, a customer gets normally between 40 per cent to 60 per cent reductions in air freight rates as well as reduction of between one to two weeks off ocean freight transit times," he said.
